Ok, so I know poetry isn't considered "manly", and I have had numerous people tell me its corny and cheesy, but it's something I enjoy doing and I want to share my poems inspired by mother nature with you all.....feedback if you'd like to provide some is appreciated!
Enjoy!
God's Country.... .... ~As you enter God's country you notice the smell Of the pine and spruce trees that I know so very well .... The first thing that welcomes me ever year And the last thing I enjoy as I leave with a tear .... Climbing in altitude I feel I am at home with God As the air gets thin and the temperature drops .... The rushing waters of melting snow driving down the slopes of the routine days and grind of life but yet I can not help David Waller 01-06-09 ~As the sun peeks out of the haze in the dawn I hold my breath searching for sustenance to keep him warm amongst other things
Some of them combining to make spectacular river flows
....
Or rushing off the ending cliff diving from great heights
Making magnificent waterfalls only describable by sight
....
White waters turn to sapphire pools as it calms into eddies
you see the trout being stalked by the grizzly as she readies
....
The eagle flying high above the treetops and cliffs
Dives swiftly for his evening meal and back up he lifts
....
Into the unspoiled airs as the settings sun reflects
off the serene mountain lake, amber and saffron connect
....
A breeze carries the sounds of howling wolves into my tent
Singing their ode to the moonlight as my day becomes spent
....
As I drift to sleep I can only wonder what beauties lay ahead
Tomorrow is my last day here and its back to the dread
....
Looking forward to next year, and another week indulging myself
....
As I leave this sanctuary of beauty I take a breath and sigh,
There is nothing in the world like a Rocky Mountain High~
....
Frost kisses the grasses in the fence line it keeps me in step
As I exhale the moist air is seen in the coldness of the morn
I turn my ears to the squirrels vocalizing their scorn
I stop and gaze upon the cardinal sitting upon a limb
the magnificent scarlet bird hops to the ground and begins
as the sun finally takes over the world and warmth to the earth it brings
I begin my pace back to where it was and come upon a fallen tree
the broken bark and scarred tissue shows me its age and it talks to me
Tells me of its many years standing tall, proud, and dominant
and of its demise during a storm when mother nature was ominous
So on this tree I take a seat and ponder on lifes' great mysteries
whether or not the path I'm taking will lead me where I need to be
To get to this tree I am sitting on now as I wonder and sit in awe
I had to take a certain path, but I know I haven't strayed afar
I followed my eyes, my ears, and my feet led me to this hallowed place
I did not have a map, nor directions and now here I sit amazed
Life is like a walk in the woods when quiet solitude finds you
the one thing that leads you where you go will never deny you
Follow your heart, and all its loves and you will never lose your way
off the well beaten path I chose to go and it's how I'm here today
So I leave this place and never forget my journey through the woods
has made me wise and knowing this I walk confident foot after foot
Until another moment in time all in the world seems right
I will follow my heart and soul and know that I am in sight
of the next tree around the corner where I will stop and ponder
cause the path of life is like the woods, never be scared to wander~
