I thought I would share a little love note we received a while back, so you can see what these folks are like. tongue_smilie

I received this message today from a lady that supports the petard beliefs. (Although she included her whole name, I've edited that portion).

Subject Your site

Greetings,

I could not help but notice your website in the sponsored section. You
certainly go to alot of trouble to make your point about PETA.

Honestly, you cannot blame people for considering it weak and cowardly to
hunt down an animal who poses no danger or threat to you. It is well
known that sportsmen compensate for not making the grade in areas of life
where you have an actual oponant (as opposed to a rabbit or a deer).
Also, the section about the trapped and stranded hogs in an over turned
truck was a low even for your site. Are you really expecting to generate
hatred and animosity for PETA and other groups by making fun of trapped
and tortured farm animals? So what if they care about chickens? Why is
this so grating to you? I suppose God must care about them (he created
them). Who are you to say they are wrong? Are people like you coming
from some kind of a higher ground just because you don't care or even
have some kind of moronic hatred for animals?

My husband, btw, served in the Navy for 22 years and we raised our
children while traveling around with the country and overseas. I happen
to know that there are many middle class families and Navy families are
support animal rights and are also vegetarian, as we are. There is
nothing "patriotic" about factory farming, fur ranching or animal labs.
It would do you and your members some good to educate yourselves instead
of making stupid, mean and senseless comments from the hip. Corporate
factory farming alone is destroying our countries ecosystem and has
polluted around 70 % of our inland water. Even the Sierra Club and other
nonanimal rights orgs have rallied against it. It also happens to be
driving the small farmer out of business.

Sincerely,

Lisa

Since she was such a nice lady, I felt obligated to respond in kind.

Lisa, thank you for contacting Gut Pile Style and giving us the
opportunity to share our views. ......And yes, we do work hard to make a
point about Peta.

Where to start....where to start......? First of all, we don't BLAME
anyone for their views. In most cases, it's simply a problem of someone
being misinformed or uninformed. As for using hunting as compensation for
shortcomings - does having a perceived threat make it justifiable to you?
I'm not sure I follow the logic. Contrary to what the anti's like to
portray, hunting has nothing to do with anger, violence or acting out pent
up agression. For some it's a form of recreation. For others, it's
actually a way of life. In either case, it's a part of nature and part of
human behavior that was here long before humans had these "shortcomings"
that you feel need to be compensated for. On the flip side, the animal
rights view is a way of compensating for a lack of self worth. The
motivation seems to stem from some misdirected guilt about one's place in
the world. How can you justify an organization or movement that puts the
same value on the spotted owl as they do human life?

As for the "trapped hogs" that are a low point - even for our site - I'm
not sure what this refers to unless it's the post about Peta pushing for
memorial road signs in the area where several process plant trucks had
accidents. If you read the posts carefully, you will see that our members
had a problem with the audacity of Peta to attempt a STUNT that would make
a mockery of the program and the memory of accident victims. A perfect
example of Peta devaluing human life.

Now......."do we come from some higher ground or.......have some moronic
hatred for animals"? Hardly. If you take the time to talk with
hunters, I'm sure you will find no greater animal lovers. Many consider
their pets to practically be part of the family and hunters do more for
the game they hunt through licensing fees, taxes and organizations like
the National Wild Turkey Federation - than Peta and other "animal rights"
group could ever do. As as matter of fact are you aware of the damage
done to animals by Peta? If not, I urge you to visit the following:
http://www.petakillsanimals.com. Your friends like to preach about the
evils of the hunter, yet your members continue to epitomize hypocrisy with
felony charges for cruelty to animals.

Now to your comment about "God must care for the animals because he
created them". You couldn't be more correct.

* Genesis 1:26-28 - "Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, in our
likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the
air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures
that move along the ground.’
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
"God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number;
fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds
of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’

I'm unsure what your husband's Navy experience has to do with this topic,
as many of us are veterans (myself included) as well. This service,
although commendable, doesn't make ones views any more viable. I'm also
unsure where the "patriotism", that you mentioned, comes into play. Is
there anything patriotic about Peta using extremists methods to force
their views on others? Is there anything patriotic about Peta making
contributions to known terrorist groups like the Animal Liberation Front
and the Earth Liberation Front? Think about that the next time you make a
contribution.

You claim that our members need to be educated and not make "stupid, mean
and senseless comments from the hip". I think the education is needed
for those that consider themselves to be common sense americans, yet fall
victim to the brainwashing techniques of Peta. Do you consider the
tactics that Peta uses to be educational? Is a comic styled booklet
entitled, " Your Mommy Kills Animals" your idea of education when it's
handed out outside of elementary schools? If Peta is truly the
enlightened view, why is there a need for the extremist exaggeration and
fright tractics? Especially targeting kids??!!!??

You asked if we wanted to bring a hatred for Peta. A hatred for them
serves no purpose. We merely want to inform our members of the truth and
expose Peta for the extremist propaganda that it is.

Sincerely,
GP

Another cool one making the rounds:

This premature deer is nature at her
Best! The wildlife doctor performed
A Caesarean section, glad that the
Driver had noticed that the doe was
In gestation when he hit her with his car.

Isn't this amazing just how "perfect" he is, long before
It was time to be born?

Little Rupert, who is so small he can fit in an adult's hand,
Was born after vets failed in their battle to save his mother.

At just six inches tall and weighing just over a pound, he is now in an incubator in the intensive care unit at Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital in Buckinghamshire.

He has only recently opened his eyes.

Les Stocker, founder of Tiggywinkles, said, "Rupert's mother had very severe injuries. We got the fawn out and got him breathing, then put him into an incubator and on oxygen. He is now being fed by a tube."

Dear deer: Rupert pulls a striking pose for the camera.

Staff are optimistic Rupert, now five days old, will make a full recovery.

"Deer are very, very tricky, but this one has spirit. He's an extremely feisty little guy and quite pushy," Mr Stocker said.

Asleep: Rupert takes 40 winks.

A seal hunt protester with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) was pied in St. John's on Friday by someone dressed up in a Newfoundland dog costume.

The incident happened on a street corner in the downtown, while people were waiting for Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who was in the city for a speech to the construction industry association.

PETA had earlier warned that it would protest the Canadian seal hunt during the Harper event.

Someone dressed in a seal suit accompanied the protester, Emily Lavender, 21, of Vancouver Island, B.C.

However, in a twist, it turned out the person wearing the outfit was an employee of K-Rock — a private FM radio station in St. John's — who contacted PETA in the morning and offered to help with the protest.

Shortly after the protest began, Jason Mills unzipped the costume and started denouncing PETA and its protests in front of the cameras.

Lavender then put the suit on herself and started to continue the protest when a van pulled up and a person dressed in a Newfoundland dog costume jumped out, pulled off the head of Lavender's costume and pushed a cream pie into her face.

North Carolina Ginseng Dealer Sentenced to Prison

Wow - these boys take Ginseng seriously!!!

North Carolina Ginseng Dealer Sentenced to Prison for Illegal Export of Ginseng Valued Over $100,000

WASHINGTON—Howard William Ledford of Hayesville, N.C., was sentenced today in federal court in the Western District of North Carolina to serve one year in prison for illegally selling and transporting wild American ginseng into Georgia, the Justice Department announced. Ledford was also fined $50,000 which will be placed in the Lacey Act Reward Account.

Ledford pleaded guilty on Nov. 9, 2009, to two counts charging him with selling and transporting wild American ginseng in violation of the Lacey Act. Ledford admitted that in 2004 and 2005 he sold wild ginseng for approximately $109,000 without the required export certificates and transported, or caused the transport of wild ginseng into Georgia from North Carolina.

The conviction arose from a three-year anti-poaching investigation intended to document the unlawful take, purchase, sale and transport of ginseng and bear parts within and along the southern Appalachians by various individuals. The individual to whom Ledford illegally sold the ginseng, Chiu Hung Lo, aka Sherry Lo, also pleaded guilty on Nov. 9, 2009 and will be sentenced at a later date.

The Lacey Act is a federal law that makes it illegal to transport or sell plants taken, possessed, transported, or sold in violation of state law or regulation. Wild ginseng is considered a plant under both the Lacey Act and North Carolina law. It is unlawful under North Carolina law to export or ship any amount of ginseng out of the state without an export certificate issued by the state.

The case was prosecuted the Justice Department’s Environmental Crimes Section and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of North Carolina. The case was investigated by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Office of Law Enforcement, with assistance from the National Park Service and Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Legendary Hunting Dog ?

With the right trainer, even the sorriest pot licker can be turned into a decent hunting dog. However, some just have that hunting instinct that can only come from generations of selective breeding. Most would agree that Ol' Bear fit the bill for the latter. From day one he was a real go-getter, always ready for the kill. Although we started him out small, he had big plans....

I guess it was about the time he was up for his first Coon Hound Championship (as a warm up for his upcoming Bear Dog trials), that we began to notice something unique about Ol' Bear. Each night, we made sure that lean and mean, predatory machine, had the necessary nourishment available. No matter how much we left for him, each morning there was a clean bowl. Yessir, the way he was putting it away, we could tell we were providing the fuel for what would become a treeing legend.

It wasn't long however, before we began to get concerned. Although we were assured his hunting lineage showed nothing less than 110 lb hunting machines full of grit, Ol' Bear was topping out at just better than 7lbs. I suddenly remembered.......that fat pot licking mutt of the neighbor's was always roaming and happened to be looking a little "healthier" than normal. That genetic train wreck had to be sneaking in, while Ol' Bear was resting from a hard day of training in the woods, and stealing his rewards!

Although I knew the truth, our neighbor was oooohhh so sure that his perfectly behaved mutt couldn't be the problem. All we got from him was a smug little chuckle as he asked for our proof. Did this man not understand he was holding back a legend?! It was obvious he was just one of those boneheads that couldn't see the writing on the wall. Well, if it was proof he wanted, it was proof he would get. A good hunter always has resources. Last night I dug out my trusty trail cam and caught the sucker in the act!!!! I'll continue posting the truth until everyone knows about his biscuit chasing thief of a mongrel.

This isn't the best pic, but I plan to set it up again tonight for a better shot. Look closely in the background, just beyond that ugly cat, and you'll see clear evidence of his dog coming up on the deck!

Spread the word, Ol' Bear's hunting destiny will not be denied!!
